Sharing Innovation: Prakom BPS Sanggau Unveils the Development of Kawan BPS Sanggau Chatbot

Introduction
Riofebri Prasetia, a Pranata Komputer (Prakom) at BPS Sanggau Regency, was recently invited as a speaker at a sharing knowledge event hosted by BPS Riau Islands Province on August 20, 2024. The event was attended by 140 participants on Zoom and was broadcast live on YouTube via this link: YouTube Live. During the session, the BPS Sanggau Prakom presented their innovation, the "Kawan BPS Sanggau" chatbot, which is designed to make it easier for the public to access statistical data via WhatsApp.

Background of the Innovation
The BPS Sanggau staff explained that the idea for Kawan BPS Sanggau came from the need to improve online public services. Before the chatbot, people often had to contact BPS staff directly through personal WhatsApp to obtain data or information, which was less efficient. With Kawan BPS Sanggau, the public can quickly and automatically get the information they need.

Details of Kawan BPS Sanggau
In the presentation, the BPS Sanggau Prakom shared that the chatbot was built using Node.js and Gemini AI, enabling quick and accurate responses to user queries. The system is also connected to Google Spreadsheet to log interactions and keep data organized.

During the Q&A session, the BPS Sanggau staff addressed various questions from participants about potential risks of being blocked by Meta, the use of Gemini AI technology, and further development strategies. The Prakom assured that the system is designed to minimize risks by adhering to reasonable interaction protocols. The BPS Sanggau staff also mentioned that the chatbot will continue to be developed to support BPS field officers during future surveys.

Feedback and Future Development
The innovation received positive feedback from webinar participants, who were interested in how Kawan BPS Sanggau could be further developed to support BPS operations, particularly in responding to information needs in the field. The BPS Sanggau Prakom also emphasized the importance of integrating guidelines into the AI to help answer field officer questions more efficiently.

Conclusion
The BPS Sanggau staff, with the Kawan BPS Sanggau innovation, has demonstrated how technology can be used to enhance public services at BPS. This innovation is expected to continue evolving and providing tangible benefits to BPS operations in the future.
