Individual agricultural enterprises in Sanggau Regency exhibit varying characteristics across districts. The following analysis outlines how these agricultural enterprises are distributed and which sectors dominate in different regions.
The Kapuas and Meliau districts are agricultural hubs with more than 8,000 individual agricultural enterprises each. This indicates that these districts have a strong agricultural base, significantly supporting the local economy. On the other hand, districts like Toba and Noyan have fewer agricultural enterprises, suggesting that there is untapped agricultural potential in these areas.
In Kapuas District, the majority of food crop enterprises are dominated by rice, accounting for approximately 90.4% of total food crop enterprises. The remaining 9.6% is dedicated to secondary crops (palawija). This highlights that rice is the main crop in the area, serving as a backbone for the local agricultural economy.
In the fisheries subsector, Mukok District shows exceptionally high activity, with more than 500 enterprises involved in both aquaculture and capture fisheries. This dominance reflects the vast potential in the fisheries subsector in Mukok, which could serve as a model for developing similar subsectors in other districts.
Jangkang District clearly dominates in the plantation subsector. While there are enterprises in other subsectors such as livestock, fisheries, and forestry, plantation enterprises in Jangkang stand out the most. This indicates that the geographical and climatic conditions in Jangkang are highly conducive to plantation farming.
Kapuas ranks at the top as the district with the largest number of plantation enterprises, followed by Parindu, Meliau, Tayan Hulu, and Bonti. These districts boast over 8,000 plantation enterprises, demonstrating that plantations are a key sector driving the economy in these areas.
In Tayan Hilir District, plantations are the most dominant sector compared to other agricultural sectors. Food crops also play a significant role, while subsectors such as livestock, fisheries, forestry, and agricultural services make smaller contributions. The focus on plantations reflects a local economic strategy that leverages the district's geographic and agronomic advantages.
This analysis demonstrates that individual agricultural enterprises in Sanggau Regency have different distributions depending on the district. Some districts, such as Kapuas and Mukok, show strengths in specific subsectors like plantations and fisheries. Enhancing the diversification of agricultural enterprises and developing less dominant subsectors could help strengthen the local economy. With support in technology, market access, and training, agricultural enterprises in Sanggau Regency have the potential for optimal growth.
